Look around and you’ll see a hierarchy of predators. And who’s always at the top?
As much as it’s actually possible, I try to see through the eyes of others and how (and why) they might respond to me in social situations. I try to signal safety, but I am not owed the benefit of the doubt. The generational weight of harm is too heavy.
